Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia introduced in Accra what is described as the first EMV dual purpose and payment card for financial inclusion.

Known as Gh Dual Card, a new product from Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Limited (GhIPSS) is a two-in-one payment card that offers E- zwich and Gh-Link applications. Therefore, it can be used as e-zwich, gh-link or both on any payment platform.

According to GhIPPS officials, this card was designed to give cardholders access to their E- Zwich cards and their bank accounts at the same time by eliminating the inconvenience of carrying multiple cards.

This card can be used by cardholders to buy and make payment at any point of sale. Cash withdrawal at ATMs; Change ATM PIN, and check balances. In this way, each customer who has an e-zwich card and also a bank account can choose a dual Gh card instead of two separate cards.

At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, Vice President Dr. Bawumia pointed out that Ghana continues to seek greater financial inclusion to ensure overall national development.

“Over the past two years, we have seen the convergence for electronic grounded services as a country, and that is the conscious policy of His Excellency President Nana Addo Danku Akufo-Addo to use technology to improve efficiency while improving the economy. We often tend to see what is done by other countries without acknowledging the big steps we are taking.

“With the country where we came from, and the passing of the law on payment systems and services approved by the President, heaven is no longer the limit.”
